Reminds me of the Arthur C. Clarke Odyssey book series where Jupiter is converted into a sun and remnants of the conversion produce mountain sized diamonds. Of course, other than the distance involved, the gravitation and radiation factors involved would require far greater technological advancements by humanity to exploit it as a resource. Humor and skepticism aside on this one - a very interesting preliminary report.
